If you live, work or study in Derbyshire you can have up to 8 hours free 1 to 1 cycle training with our National Standard instructors.
The funding is available if you enrol with Derbyshire County Council on their 'County Rider' scheme.
After filling in the online form you will receive a reference number beginning with CRT and a list of instructors. The trainee contacts an instructor of their choice. Wheely Fun Wheels have five instructors on the list, you can either contact an instructor directly or contact Alastair Meikle and discuss your requirements. We base most of our County Rider training from the Queen's Park where we have bikes for you to borrow free of charge if necessary.
County Rider training can be anything from 'learn to ride' to riding on major traffic routes. The majority of training we have delivered is to returning cyclists - haven't ridden for years and are worried about interacting with traffic.
We are now offering parent and child cycle training, mainly at weekends or school holidays, again this is completely free (returnable deposit needed).

As everyday riders ourselves we use our bikes for local transport. We can show you those cycle routes and quiet roads that can make an everyday journey by bike an enjoyable way of getting around.
Our instructors can advise on cycling equipment, luggage carrying and clothing. We run occasional basic maintenance courses too. Our mechanics are available for servicing and repairs.
If you live in or around Chesterfield do consider joining Chesterfield Cycle Campaign, they have partnered Derbyshire County Council and Chesterfield Borough Council for over 20 years to increase cycling infrastructure in the town.
There is a similar group in Dronfield, Cycling for Everyone.
